Exerpt from "Pioneer Voices of Priest Lake" (ed. Kris Runberg Smith): "was born in 1888 in Neenah, Wisconsin, and came to Priest River at the age of 12 with his mother after his father died. He opened a store at Coolin in 1906 at the age of 19 with the assistance of his brother-in-law, Priest River merchant Charlie Mears. Paul married Vera Moore in 1914, and they had three daughters, Marjorie, June and Betty. In 1923 he developed Paul Jones Beach, and he opened his expanded new store in 1926. Leonard Paul died in 1971 at age 83. |
