Description |
Honeymooner Edith Bump Martin in a double-ender rowboat standing in the middle with a fish on her line. She is wearing a white shirtwaist and a long skirt. Jody McClellan wrote, Elisabeth Jane Bump(1875-1955) was a schoolteacher, originally from New London Ohio, who taught school in Rathdrum, ID. She met my grandfather, Rev. James Henry Martin (1864-1936), while he was in Rathdrum preaching at the Methodist Church. They were married June 20, 1905 and went to Priest Lake for their honeymoon. I was 6 when she died and I do not remember her talking about fishing or Priest Lake. I did find a letter from her sister-in-law to her that mentioned the sister-in-law (Edna Bump) did not want to accompany her husband, Arthur, to Priest Lake on his next fishing trip with "the men" because every time she went she ended up doing all the cooking and cleaning up with their hired cook! |
